As we step into 2025, the Year of the Snake, the blockchain space continues to evolve at a rapid pace. In 2024, Bitcoin hit $100,000, total value locked (TVL) in L2s reached $55B, and EVM remains the dominant blockchain platform with 3.6x developers compared to the next biggest contender.
There’s much to celebrate about the progression of Ethereum’s roadmap. Looking back at themes from last year, scalability and EVM-compatibility were heavily explored as we’ve seen more L1 ecosystems transition to L2. Meanwhile, EVM has strongly positioned itself to be the #1 tech stack for developers.
Highlighting these advancements, Josh Stark from the Ethereum Foundation presented a high-level overview of the current state of Ethereum during his talk at Devcon in Bangkok. His insights reinforced the momentum we’ve been feeling and the central role that Ethereum has been playing in the broader blockchain landscape.
Curvegrid remains committed to helping developers efficiently build their Dapps so they can go-to-market faster. We kicked the year off by introducing software updates to our core product MultiBaas, refining its functionality and user experience with new features including:
- A new UI for our dashboard
- Webhooks integration
- Forge integration and library
- Safe Wallet support
- Adding smart contracts by address
- Support for more chains, including early support for: Arthera, Celo, Flare, Mantle, Neon EVM, Scroll, XRPL EVM, Zircuit (full list of supported chains here)
The Blockchain Game Alliance, of which we’re a proud member, highlighted our feature releases in their August edition magazine. These updates reflect our commitment to reducing development time and lowering entry barriers for blockchain projects.
Blockchain Solutions for Ecosystem Organizations
New partnerships and integrations have extended our impact across industries. Highlights include:
- LIFULL - NFTeapot powers blockchain initiatives for one of Japan’s leading real estate companies
- Callback - This partnership allowed us to explore NFT distribution for our Scaling Ethereum afterparty
- MCB Web3 - We joined the Japanese MCB Web3 catalogue
- Evermore Labs - Together we’re promoting sustainable fashion through recommerce
- Arthera Chain and Optimism - Supporting new and established ecosystems with MultiBaas integrations
We’re excited to announce upcoming partnerships with even more L1s and L2s in 2025!
Continuous Learning
The pace of technological development in our industry is dizzying. If you do not keep up with the developments you will quickly fall behind. In February, the team gathered in Hakuba for a week-long R&D off-site exploring new technical blockchain topics and skiing in “JAPOW”. Some topics included zero-knowledge proofs, account abstraction, and multisig wallets (and a little bit of split boarding technique to round things out).
We have also been celebrating some achievements as a pleasant byproduct of this exercise. Tawago, one of our software engineers, recently won a bounty through Scroll’s Level Up program for his article about building a proof of membership application using Semaphore on Scroll via MultiBaas. This recognition highlights the ways that MultiBaas simplifies blockchain development and integrates with key Web3 technologies like zero-knowledge proofs. Congrats Tawago!

Curvegrid empowers its team to deepen their expertise and stay ahead of the rapidly evolving Web3 landscape. Members have taken the initiative to broaden their skillset by expanding their knowledge through training, research, and learning, including:
- SheFi - Three team members successfully completed the 8-week Web3 onboarding program, which led to their involvement in co-organizing a local event to connect the community in Tokyo.
- Japan Blockchain Association - Our financial planning lead joined the JBA to gain insights into the economic dynamics and regulatory challenges of blockchain in Japanese markets.
- Cryptozombies - Our product designer furthered his technical understanding by completing a course in Solidity basics, allowing him to explore UI designs that developers could appreciate.
These endeavours underscore our commitment to professional growth, ensuring that our team is well-equipped to tackle the challenges and opportunities of the Web3 space.
Expanding our Presence
2024 saw Curvegrid at major events, reinforcing our global presence in a number of ways and engaging with the developer community:
- Speaking engagements: JETRO webinar, Japan FinTech Week, the Crypto Subscriptions podcast, EDCON panel, Tokyo Devcon Night, Abstract Bangkok, and more.
- Event co-organizing: University of Waterloo alumni reception, Scaling Ethereum afterparty, SheFi Tokyo meetup, POAP rally and closing party, Road After Devcon event.
- Hackathon sponsorships: Scaling Ethereum online hackathon, ETHGlobal Bangkok, H.E.R. DAO.
- Global blockchain weeks: We occasionally sponsor, judge, mentor, and participate in various global events. Our team participated in events across Korea (SheFi Summit Korea), Belgium (EthCC Brussels), Japan (IVS, Tokyo Game Show, ETHTokyo, WebX), Singapore (Token2049, ETHGlobal Singapore), and Thailand (SheFi Summit Bangkok, Devcon 7 SEA, ETHGlobal Bangkok).
- Technical workshops: Devs got more familiar with our tools and learned how to build a Dapp in 30 minutes with MultiBaas. We even gave out a prize for the best “speedrun with MultiBaas” demonstration at ETHGlobal Bangkok!
Reflecting on Developments in the Ethereum Ecosystem
39,148 new developers explored crypto in 2024, with Ethereum as the #1 ecosystem for total developer activity. (Source: Electric Capital Developer Report)
Ethereum’s roadmap advanced significantly this year and we’re proud to support developers as they navigate these changes.
Key highlights include:
- BLOBs: Data layers improving Ethereum’s scalability
- Rise of ZKPs: Zero-knowledge proofs gained traction for privacy-preserving applications
- More L1s becoming L2s: We’ve seen a shift to rollup-centric architectures for enhanced scalability, security, and EVM-compatibility
- Account abstraction: Simplified interactions and wallets
- Holesky testnet: Launched as Ethereum’s largest testnet
Looking Forward to 2025
While 2024 was an exciting year for Ethereum, we’re thrilled for what’s on the horizon in 2025 including:
- ETHDenver in February
- ETHGlobal Taipei in April
- Devconnect later in the year
We’re also committed to expanding our reach through new partnerships, technical enhancements, and deeper ecosystem collaborations and contributions.
